The Faculty of Education and Human Sciences, Yokohama National University is affiliated with multiple graduate schools.

Yokohama National University Graduate School of Education (Masters’ Course)

Founded in 1979, the Graduate School of Education established twelve departments in 1982. With its roots in education-related faculties, the Masters’ Course aims to produce teachers with a high degree of educational specialization from both theoretical and practical standpoints, and graduates are expected to apply the highly specialized knowledge they have acquired in elementary schools, junior high schools, and other educational institutions, as well as serve as educational leaders, advancing the strength of educational research in schools and communities.

The Graduate School of Education aims to equip graduates with the capacity to acquire deep and detailed learning from a broad perspective, enhance their theoretical and applied research abilities in their specialist fields and educational institutions, and contribute to the promotion of educational research and enhancement of educational practices.

Tokyo Gakugei University United Graduate School of Education (Doctoral Course)

This graduate school is the first doctoral program in Japan to have been founded jointly by four education-related universities/faculties, including Yokohama National University; it aims to enhance teacher education at university level and expand school education. It is a united graduate school formed with the education faculties and graduate schools (Master’s degree courses) at Tokyo Gakugei University, Saitama University, Chiba University, and Yokohama National University as its parent bodies.
